Brings back memories of baling hay on my Grandfathers farm back in the 50s and 60s as a kid. The unloading in the barn in temps in the 90s . up near the slate roof was the worst part.

I last visited this Amish market 50 years ago, when I was a grad student at Penn State. My! How it has grown! It was just the baked goods, etc., barn and the livestock auction barn ... way back when. I plan to visit in 2025.

This sickle-bar mower is not ground-driven, but is powered by a motor on the trailer cart. That makes the work of mowing easier for the horses, but when the crimper with the added weight it is a wash. The video shows the long rectangular fields , more suitable to horse-farming than if they were square. By the way, the farmer hardly has to guide the horses, after a few rounds they know where to go, including keeping the distance to the still to be mowed grass.

I helped my neighbor put in posts. We used Pea rock on the bottom and to fill around the post. The idea is drainage. When I am 110 yrs old I will let you know how they held up.😅

This way of life is unimaginable today. I'm 57 years old. I'm from the Balkans, in Europe. In my life I lived and did the same things as the Amish shown here. I can praise the video and all the people who are Amish. A message for the Amish, "That's real life" .

I admire the Amish people i love the ways of living . I was brought up that way in living. We weren,t Amish. Our living were like that O what a awesome time it was we were all happy with the times gone. I WOULD LOVE TO VISIT THERE CULTURE .MUCH LOVE FROM TRINIDAD WESTINDES.

So heart warming to see! This is a lesson in possibilities. People can accomplish so much when we come together and help one another. This is still a lesson not fully embraced, we all benefit when we all do well. My hope for this crazy conflicted world starts there! ❤
